I haven’t had time to post much here lately, but I’ve been enjoying lots of horse shoots and lots of sunflower shoots this summer! Spring is here, part 2!
I’ve had my busiest May of shooting since I opened up shop, but it’s been a great time! Here are a few highlights, but if you follow along on Facebook, I’ll post plenty more there.

2021 Update!
Alright friends, I have my 2021 updates up on my site! I've created a few new offerings for regular sessions and mini sessions, plus a few specials for spring and Christmas that you can book any time here online. This year will be a little different from the usual--I'm doing some added coursework, so between that and my full-time job, I will be running at about half my usual photography capacity until 2022 so that I can properly keep up with things. However, I plan to add a few more blocks of mini sessions in order to accommodate as many of you as possible, especially for the fall season season for those seeking Christmas cards and family portraits, and I'm looking forward to seeing you!
I have too many fall sessions to share here, but I’ve scheduled daily posts for the next few months on Facebook, so follow along there if you’d like to see some of my recent work.
Family photos at the beach!
I love it when clients ask me to help them make their vision come true—this family had hoped for pink skies and beach photos, and that’s what we got! It was a nice chance for me to get out and explore a bit, too.
Spring is here!
I’ve had a couple shoots lately with unseasonably warm weather, so it’s always a bummer when you get a cold and windy day to shoot, but these guys took it like champs for our family session + cupcake smash at Richlands Dairy Farm.
Fall and Winter Wrapup - thank you, everyone!
I am long overdue for a blog post on my site, but after entering a very busy season, I prioritized getting galleries delivered and am finally catching up on sharing some of my work with the rest of you now that shooting has wound down a bit over the holidays! 2019 was a great year and I am thankful once again for all the clients and friends who have supported me and helped me continue to build business. Senior Horse + Rider Portrait Session
L wanted her senior photos with Sampson, so that’s what we did! We got a beautiful September evening with lots of sunset light and Sampson was a good boy. Can’t beat that!
Sunflower Sessions at Alvis Farms LLC
We had a great time shooting some sunflower minis at Alvis Farms in Manakin-Sabot and I’m looking forward to more later this week! Check out these awesome twins and their matching outfits—they came to me last year for sunflower photos, so it was neat to get round two in and see how much they’ve grown! Lulu's Big News

Mike + Sarah | Married
This couple got married at the Jamestown 4-H setting, which provided a lovely view of the James River and some handy beaches for wedding party photos. They had a beautiful day and I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to capture it! View more from their day here.

It is hard to beat a barn wedding when that barn is right in the backyard of your childhood home. Erin and Will picked a beautiful day to celebrate with friends and family and they transformed their Amelia County family farm into a pretty awesome venue for a wedding day! Congratulations, guys! It was great to see this little guy again—I shot his newborn images a last year :) He wasn’t so sure he wanted to get dirty, but he did find out that icing tastes pretty good.

Lizzie+Warren | Married
When you have an outdoor wedding, you never know what is going to happen with the weather, and starting right before Lizzie and Warren's ceremony, the skies really opened and we had a night of heavy rain and not quite the sunset we were hoping to shoot in. Nonetheless, these two took it in stride, moved the whole thing under their reception tent, and partied on with friends! Maternity, Family, and...Donkey!
It's not every day that you get photobombed by a donkey during a session, but this was that day! I met Nicole a while back when she did the bride's hair for a wedding I shot, so it was neat to meet up again for a maternity shoot with her family! We enjoyed our little visitor in one of the fields at BB Equestrian, too. I usually share a winner, but why not an outtake? Of course, you can see a few more of the "keepers" here.
Amber + Clayton | Maternity
I was worried about an incoming storm during Amber and Clayton's shoot, but the moodier light we got turned this session into one of my all-time favorites. The water was a fitting backdrop, as their baby will probably spend some time enjoying kayaking with them later on! They are looking forward to meeting their little one soon! See their gallery here.
