I haven’t had time to post much here lately, but I’ve been enjoying lots of horse shoots and lots of sunflower shoots this summer! Spring is here, part 2!
I’ve had my busiest May of shooting since I opened up shop, but it’s been a great time! Here are a few highlights, but if you follow along on Facebook, I’ll post plenty more there.
Spring is here!
I’m enjoying a busy spring, between engagements, petting farm portrait specials at Flat Creek Farm in Amelia, and a few maternity shoots. It’s been great meeting everyone! You can follow along for the latest work on my Facebook page.
Family photos at the beach!
I love it when clients ask me to help them make their vision come true—this family had hoped for pink skies and beach photos, and that’s what we got! It was a nice chance for me to get out and explore a bit, too.
Sunflower sessions!
Sunflowers summer 2020 are a wrap! I shot these during the Alvis Farms 2nd Annual Sunflower Festival in Manakin (a few minutes outside of short pump). The sunflowers were spectacular, the field was huge, and the sunset was great the night I was out there! I’ve had a couple shoots lately with unseasonably warm weather, so it’s always a bummer when you get a cold and windy day to shoot, but these guys took it like champs for our family session + cupcake smash at Richlands Dairy Farm.

It was great to meet this little girl—she had a bit of a rough start, but she’s doing great and her family is happy to have her home! Check out the great little outfits they had for her.
Fall and Winter Wrapup - thank you, everyone!
I am long overdue for a blog post on my site, but after entering a very busy season, I prioritized getting galleries delivered and am finally catching up on sharing some of my work with the rest of you now that shooting has wound down a bit over the holidays! 2019 was a great year and I am thankful once again for all the clients and friends who have supported me and helped me continue to build business. Waylon is turning one! The last time I saw him, we shot his six-month photos. It has been neat to watch all these little babies growing up so fast!

Even more sunflowers!
We trekked out to a new spot in the field at Alvis Farms that I hadn’t used before, and there was a perfect tree behind us to diffuse the sun. I loved this spot!

As I edit through the latest round of shoots this week, I have to go ahead and share a bunch from last Thursday's mini sessions at Alvis Farms LLC. Editing this sweet mom-daughter duo made my day! We had a great time out in the sunflowers--I'm doing one more set out there tomorrow while the flowers are still in bloom, and then we will just have to wait until next year to get back out :) See lots more from this mother-daughter shoot here.

We had a great time shooting some sunflower minis at Alvis Farms in Manakin-Sabot and I’m looking forward to more later this week! It was great to see this little guy again—I shot his newborn images a last year :) He wasn’t so sure he wanted to get dirty, but he did find out that icing tastes pretty good.

Maternity, Family, and...Donkey!
It's not every day that you get photobombed by a donkey during a session, but this was that day! I met Nicole a while back when she did the bride's hair for a wedding I shot, so it was neat to meet up again for a maternity shoot with her family! We enjoyed our little visitor in one of the fields at BB Equestrian, too. I usually share a winner, but why not an outtake? Of course, you can see a few more of the "keepers" here.
Amber + Clayton | Maternity
I was worried about an incoming storm during Amber and Clayton's shoot, but the moodier light we got turned this session into one of my all-time favorites. The water was a fitting backdrop, as their baby will probably spend some time enjoying kayaking with them later on! They are looking forward to meeting their little one soon! See their gallery here.
Puppies and Dancers
I've shot a lot of unique sessions, but this was a first--Taylor and Fallon gave me the opportunity to capture outdoor dance images as well as some family images with their new puppies, who were perfectly behaved throughout. These girls made ballet with pointe shoes and leotards in an outdoor park look easy. See more dance images from the session here and family and puppy images here.
